We had a great Walk and Talk for our September Teacher Induction Session! We traveled to Rock Mill Park to enjoy the greenway. Our focus was Positive Learning Environment (TKES #7). Along our journey, we answered some guiding questions to help us with our discussion. We wore QR code paper bracelets that when scanned took us to an online form to privately respond/reflect to these questions. See questions below.
During this talk, I mentioned #teachingsmall. This is a way to connect to your students in small ways such as saying good morning at carpool, asking about interests, attending students' sports/events, etc. Read more:

What is teaching small? #teachsmall celebrates all the small things- high fives, messages, enouragement. It is taking time to make a connection with your students. It is involving students in the choice of how they want to learn and then show that learning. It is showing students you care about them as a person. How do you #teachsmall?

On our walk and talk, we independently answered these guiding questions, then answered them after scanning our QR code bracelets.
- What are some examples of the ways you make connections with your students?
- What is your process for developing classroom rules and procedures?
- How do you address inappropriate behavior?
- How do you encourage students to celebrate other students' success?
