Georgia Milestones Information
Georgia's Department of Education recently released the state level 2014-15 results for the Georgia Milestones Assessment administered last Spring (click here for state level results). Test results place students into one of four categories based on their performance:
Level 1: Beginning Learners (do not yet demonstrate proficiency)
Level 2: Developing Learners (demonstrate partial proficiency)
Level 3: Proficient Learners (demonstrate proficiency)
Level 4: Distinguished Learners (demonstrate advanced proficiency)
It is expected that students score in levels 2, 3, or 4 to be considered on track for college and career readiness. In the areas of Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies (3rd-5th grades), approximately 30% of all students in GA scored as Beginning Learners, 30% scored as Developing Learners, 30% scored as Proficient Learners and 10% scored as Distinguished Learners.
These results are dramatically different than recent CRCT scores; Georgia students overall are scoring lower as these tests are more rigorous with higher expectations. For a full press release from the GA Department of Education click here.
