Reminder: Edit/update your BLOG

Picture
Don't forget to update your blog each week.  Yes, you should even blog during testing weeks.  Remember quality over quantity!  Ideas to snazz up your blog:
-pictures of a classroom activity
-link to your Twitter feed
-important upcoming dates (testing days/subjects, project due dates, etc.)
-parent tips (what they can do at home, how they can communicate with their child, developmental milestones for their child's age/grade, etc.)
-upcoming units/curriculum, projects (rubrics), and links connected to that unit

Thinglink

ThingLink Education allows you to use interactive images as a new visual learning platform. You can create interactive lesson plans, calendars, and study books. Teachers can sign up students with a quick list import, arrange images into channels or projects, and use our mobile app for adding notes to images on field trips. The creative possibilities are endless!

I appreciate YOU!  Many times this week, I thought of how fortunate I am to work with a dedicated and positive school team!  Thank you for all you do!  You are appreciated!

Huge shout out to Jodi, Amy & Freda! So much prep work has been done by these fab ladies so that we were ready for Milestones this week!

Animal live feeds:
Over spring break I was able to witness a live giraffe birth at the Dallas Zoo. All from the comfort of home in my pjs! It got me thinking that these live feeds would be great to use in your classroom for instruction.  There are some great live feeds you can use with your class to have virtual field trips anytime! Here are a few of my favorite live feeds:

Animal Planet Live-Giraffe (Dallas Zoo) Animal Planet also has live bird, hedgehog, elephants, puppies, kittens, etc.
Sea World Turtle Cam
Zoo Atlanta Panda Cam
National Geographic Critter Cams (many to choose from)
Berry Eagles
Smithsonian Web Cams
Wild Earth TV
Ellis Island Torch Cam

Stop Motion Animation:

There are stop motion apps (free) to make your movies as well!

I used the app Stop Motion to create this movie. It was super easy!
Here is my stop motion video that I created with the Stop Motion app.
It was super fast and easy!

I missed you this week!  I hope you had a great week. I know you are ready for Spring Break!Relax, Be Safe, and I will see you soon!
Behavior Contracts:
A behavior contract is a simple positive reinforcement intervention. The contract spells out in detail the expectations of student, teachers  and parents.  Because the student has input into the conditions there are established within the contract for earning rewards the student is more likely to be motivated to follow the terms of the contract. Implementing levels of rewards and starting fresh also increase success!
