I recently applied to be a part of the Fulton County Vanguard Team and I made it! What does a member of the Vanguard Team do? Vanguard coaches work with their peer teachers, METIs, technology specialists and the school administration to deliver the best curriculum practices which include transformative technology. Vanguard members will be responsible for mentoring teachers, performing TIM observations, complete a monthly coaching reflection and attend Vanguard training sessions both in person and online. NPE now has 3 Vanguard Team Members: Kati Searcy (TAG), Laura Lamaster (3rd) and Heather Welch (CST). More information about this and our Thursday Professional Development Days will come soon! Blogs, Webpages & Weekly CommunicationDon't forget that blogging each week is an expectation and falls under TKES Standard #10 Communication. If you are a coteacher, you also need to include information for your students/parents. You can share a space with your coteacher if they already have a blog/website. If you do not have a website/blog yet, please let me know and I will help you get one going asap! As you update your grade level/class blog each week, let me know and I'll feature it on the NPE Twitter. Below are some items to include in your weekly blog: Standards for content areas for the upcoming week Quiz/test dates and/or upcoming events Resources/links related to the content you are studying How parents can help their child at home Other optional ideas for your blog/webpage: Conference/volunteer sign up (optional) Wish List Schedule Homework Meet the Teacher PBIS/Classroom Management Milestones Info If your grade level has a page please include items such as: Unit Standards for content areas (for all levels) Policies (homework, grading, recovery, study guides, agenda etc.) Grade level/school events Links to individual teachers pages Contact information for all teachers (include coteachers as well) If your grade level does not have a page, you will need to have this information on your webpage. As always, I am here to help and support! Thank you! Get TechKnow - Get APPYSocrative Student and Socrative Teacher (2 apps) Students share their understanding by answering formative assessment questions in a variety of formats: quizzes, quick question polls, exit tickets and space reaces. Once students launch the Socrative Student APP, they'll be prompted to joint the teacher's "room" via the teacher's unique code. No student accounts necessary. Seesaw: The Learning Journal Seesaw Parent Access Seesaw is a student-driven digital portfolio that empowers students of all ages to independently document and share what they are learning at school. Students can easily sign in with a QR code. Educreations Interactive Whiteboard One of my all time favorite apps! Educreations is a unique interactive whiteboard and screencasting (you can record your screen actions/voice) tool that's simple, powerful and fun to use. Annotate, animate and narrate nearly any type of content as you explain any concept. Teachers can create short instructional videos and share them instantly with students or ask students to show what they know and help friends learn something new. ChatterPix Kids: by Duck Duck Moose, Inc. Another kid favorite! Grab your camera! Let's ChatterPix! Kids can make anything talk. Simply take any photo, draw aline to make a mouth, and record your voice. Then share your pix with friends and family as silly greetings, playful messages, creative cards, or even book reports. Free. Ages 6-12 Khan Academy Khan Academy allows you to learn almost anything for free. Post It Plus Takes the momentum from your collaboration sessions and keeps it rolling. Simply capture your notes, organize and share with everyone. That way your great ideas don't stop when the meeting ends. Or if you are just sticky note obsessed like me, you can take a picture of all your sticky notes and edit, rearrange, and take them with you on your mobile device. If you'd rather have virtual sticky notes, see the Sticky Notes app. Skitch - Snap See something that sparks an idea? Use skitch to snap it, mark it up with simple tools, and send it instantly. Great for labeling photos, maps, etc. How could you use this to show higher level thinking? Penultimate Take handwritten notes on your device and sync to devices with Evernote. |
