Cheetah Cup - Math OlympiadDo you love math? I'm looking for sponsor for this activity for the 2015-16 school year. If you are interested, please let me know. Grade Level Web Page and Blogs for 2015-16As you plan for next year, think about how you will communicate with parents and students. SchoolCollabo is not available anymore for blogging. The plan for NPE is for each grade level to have a page with grade level information and off of that page, a link to each teacher's blog/webpage. These pages will be listed on our New Prospect Web Page (under the staff directory) for parents to access. Weebly is a great option because it is super easy, looks nice and it has a multiple blog feature. I will hold some tutorials and help sessions when we return to school. Evergreen School 2015-16Are you interested in raising students' environmental awareness? Do you want to help our school become "green"? I will be applying for NPE to receive Evergreen School status (we will work with the city of Alpharetta) but I need your help! An environmental committee will be created to help plan and make decisions. Let me know if this sounds like something you'd like to help me with! Some initiatives we plan to work toward are: -creation of a schoolyard habitat (already in the initial stages) -creation and implementation of an outdoor classroom/garden with lesson plans you can use -creation and launch of an Environmental Club -expansion of our recycling program to include other items like plastics -service projects such as adopt a road, adopt a stream, waste free lunch days, etc. -environmental lessons/field trips Read more here. Social Studies Standards Survey: Your input counts!Don't forget to give the DOE feedback on the SS standards. Scroll to the bottom to access the surveys. You can do this as a grade level but fill out a survey for each teacher if possible (powerful feedback in numbers). This would be a great PLC activity. This is your opportunity to give your feedback about your grade level standards! Be as a specific as possible. You can fill out your individual surveys together as a grade level and then submit. Animal live feeds: Over spring break I was able to witness a live giraffe birth at the Dallas Zoo. All from the comfort of home in my pjs! It got me thinking that these live feeds would be great to use in your classroom for instruction. There are some great live feeds you can use with your class to have virtual field trips anytime! The contract spells out in detail the expectations of student, teachers and parents. Because the student has input into the conditions there are established within the contract for earning rewards the student is more likely to be motivated to follow the terms of the contract. Lesson Plan Spotlight: I've seen a lot of great lesson plans this week and I'd like to highlight this amazing work! This week, the spotlight is on Emily Ianiro! Emily has done a great job including tiered differentiation in her lesson plans. Do you notice that she is very specific as to what her students will be doing during their small group instruction?
